Mark Williams has had a working career spanning over 20 years. In this time he has been heavily involved in live performance, recording and music production in a range of styles as diverse as rock, acid jazz, blues, hip-hop, contemporary pop, latin and world music.
His career began winning The Best New Act at the 15th Annual Queensland Rock Awards in Brisbane in '81. From there he spent a decade touring Australia with original bands such as Riff-X, EMI act Liquid Engineers and CBS act The Ones. Through this period he supported the cream of Australian artists including INXS, Midnight Oil, Men At Work, Split Enz and The Angels.
From there he became involved in corporately sponsored promotional acts and was the musical director for Australian brewery Castlemaine Perkins XXXX promotional band The Xotix, headlining to crowds as large as 10,000 and featuring in the breweries national cinema advertising campaign. More recently, Mark spent 6 months living and performing in Shanghai, China at the Portmans Shangri-La Hotel.
On his return to Australia he established his recording studio where he spends much of his time, in-between touring, recording local and international acts. The newly released Rob Tognoni Band live album was edited, mixed and mastered by Mark and Rob at this studio near Noosa in Queensland in December '98.
